What you like best about personal training/teaching classes?
I enjoy helping clients reach their fitness goals both in the studio
and daily life. The first step is to design a clear roadmap. With
that in hand, you’ll be able to take small, manageable steps that
amount to a new self-image.
Why did you become a trainer/instructor?
I love to teach – especially when the
subject matter is as active and important as fitness. Every day
presents us with new challenges and opportunities; being a trainer
allows me to think outside of the box and create a program that is
right for you.
Favorite type/mode type of training?
I base every session on the concepts of
functional fitness. Following a movement progression that relates
to a person’s everyday activities is the key to becoming fit for
life.
Your own athletic accomplishments:
Before becoming a personal trainer, I was a
professional track and field athlete. In 2003-2004, I received
full funding from the U.S. Olympic Committee and resided at the
U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA. In 2004-2005, I
received sponsorship from Holyfield International Track Club and
Disney to race abroad. I am a two-time National Champion at 400m
and a ten-time All-American.
Things you are currently working on/training for:
I am currently training to be a healthy,
active adult. I play on a summer Ultimate Frisbee team, bike,
downhill ski, and hike in our nation’s parks.
Hobbies/What you do when you are not training:
Music is one of my passions. I love jazz,
folk, and acoustic coffee-shop songwriters. I play guitar and
piano.
Family or significant others:
I am recently married to a wonderful young lady, have a sister who
is traveling in South America for a year, a Tai Chi/Qi Gong
instructor mother, and a father who reads Biblical Archaeology
books in his spare time.
