What you like best about personal training/teaching classes?
I love the energy that comes from teaching a group Pilates Class. It's
exciting to help people understand how their body moves and responds
to the world around them.
Why did you become a trainer/instructor?
I was hooked on Pilates from the first class i took in NYC. Becoming
an instructor was the next step in deepening my own practice.
Pilates strengthens every aspect of your body and mind. As an
instructor i wanted to be able to show people that you don't have to
commit the rest of your life to fitness just to stay healthy.
Pilates was the miracle method for me to balance keeping my body fit
and still enjoying NYC.
Favorite type/mode type of training?
I love challenging my mind at the same time as my body. Yoga,
Pilates, dancing, and a focus on balance in exercise are my
favorites; but i won't say no to a game of soccer or a leisurely
bike ride.
Your own athletic accomplishments:
Does speed walking in NYC count? I was a diver and soccer player in
High School. I have been a certified Pilates trainer for over 4
years and have worked with a myriad of injuries, body types, issues,
etc.
What are you training for?
Staying healthy and working towards my PHD in African Language and
Literature at UW-Madison.
Hobbies/What you do when you are not training:
I am in graduate school so most of my hobbies are consumed with
reading. When i am not reading i like to cook and discover new
places to dine out and listen to live music.
Family or significant others:
My family is back east. But i managed to convince my boyfriend of
forever to move with me to Madison.
