    How we're different

melt is a studio — not a gym or franchise

We're different in terms of our culture, aesthetic, and level of practice. We respect businesses that stay small and simple, with a high degree of expertise.

Through minimal architecture, elegant artwork and natural light, melt is the physical embodiment of our vision.

    Self Myofascial Release (SMR)
    Brian Stoltenberg

What is self myofascial release (SMR) and how could it help me? Fascia is a thin sheath that surrounds your muscle fibers and muscle groups. Over time the fascia surrounding the muscle groups gets tight and prevents the muscle groups from staying at proper length preventing them from functioning properly. No amount of stretching can relax the fascia and allow the muscles to properly function. You must actively release the fascia. The most common form of SMR is using a foam roller to loosen the fascia allowing the muscle groups the ability to function well. A few minutes spent foam rolling before your training session can allow you to reach your full potential.
